We have a lot to cover today, so I’m jumping right in.
In older smut news…
First, I am republishing the second half of my One Night in South Beach series starting on Friday with BEFORE DAYLIGHT. (The paperback is actually available right now!) The books will all be out in time for you to order them in paperback and have them in your hands in time for me to sign them at Apollycon if you have tickets for that event. (If you’re not familiar with the series, these books are VERY SEXY, super tropey, and category length.)
Second, ALL THEY WANT FOR CHRISTMAS is now out in paperback. It’s a snowed-in, MMF story that originally appeared in an anthology. It’s a slim, slim volume, but I want readers to be able to consume it like a smutty lil’ pamphlet in the Regency or Victorian era.
In newer smut news…
Even though we’re several generations of publishing since Jackie Collins, I’ve adopted a new motto/guiding star. Whenever I have a question about my career, I ask myself, “What Would Jackie Collins Do?”
Ever since I saw the excellent documentary on Jackie Collins’ life, Ladyboss, I have been thinking about the way that she wrote high-heat books (about her Hollywood friends, no less!) and how she marketed herself as an author and PERSONALITY. She used the power of her charisma and connection with readers to propel her career almost as much as she used her words. I find that really inspiring, because my books are so entwined with my personality and identity. (Like, if you like me, you’ll probably like my books. If you hate me, I probably still have some reading recommendations.) I’ve been thinking a lot about how to harness and amplify direct connections with readers, especially since March 2020. (See e.g., Drunk Romance History on my Instagram).
And, in asking myself what the Ladyboss herself would do recently, I have decided to turn on paid subscriptions to this newsletter to publish some serial fiction (among other things.) I basically wanted a place to write higher-heat, bonkers stories and deliver content straight to readers in an intentional way.
All I will say about the first story I’m writing right now is that it’s going to be incredibly spicy and was inspired by both the “Brocedes” era at the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula 1 Team and the “Scandoval” of it all. So, it’s going to be of interest if you, like me, are a garbage-person who loves Bravo reality shows AND/OR if you are a newly-minted or long-time Formula 1 nerd. (Also like me.) I’m hoping to start publishing in early-May, but I’m going to have plenty of content before then.
In addition to the serial fiction, the paid version of the Stern Brunch Daddy Digest will be where I conduct SBD verdicts during a weekly chat. I’m also going to bring back Drunk Romance History via podcast for subscribers. I also want to hear from subscribers about more of what they’d like to see in both the free and paid versions of the newsletter.
You will still get announcements and periodic missives as a free subscriber, which is totally cool. But I really hope you’ll join me on a fantastic and wild voyage into some angsty smut and fun conversations.
If you haven’t signed up for updates on the Dangerous Tides Kickstarter campaign, you should do so soon (wink, wink)! We are quickly approaching being ready to launch, and these books are FIRE! The art is also AMAZING, and I don’t want you to miss out on the fun.
ICYMI, my next trade release, UNREALISTIC EXPECTATIONS, is up for pre-order now! It’s about a relationship therapist who gets dumped the day her relationship book for straight men, TEN THINGS NOT TO DO IF YOU EVER WANT TO SEE A NAKED GIRL AGAIN, is released. So, she fake dates a fuckboy from her past for publicity. (Chill, he’s in therapy and redeeming his fuckboy ways.) Anyhow, it’s an incredibly fun book, and I hope you’ll check it out.
